Need Your Feedback On This Survey

We were recently told that Governor Bentley is using an online survey to help him reach a decision as to who he should appoint to replace U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions when he joins the Trump administration.  Given the continuing concerns about public schools in Alabama, we decided to follow the governor’s lead and also turn to Survey Monkey for feedback.

Just in the last few weeks we have learned that the governor thinks education “sucks” in Alabama and that one or more state school board members took it upon themselves to discredit one of the applicants for state superintendent

So here is your chance to let your feelings be known about the governor’s support for public schools, about what is going on with the state board of education, about your perception of public schools in general and about the legislature.

Go here and tell us what you think.

  1. I don’t believe that our public schools should be under any Federal control. I believe in measuring progress in the schools but it should fall to the State to set the standards. Common Core is not the answer, it is simply a way for the Federal Government to control curriculum. The promise of Federal tax dollars that should be given to the States anyway, but should be given in block sums based on school population not school compliance with Federal mandates.

  2. Trump is appointing a person for secretary of education who does not believe in public schools. We need someone that will stand against a federal movement to destroy our public schools. The public schools though needing some improvement are necessary for the survival of a democracy that gives hope to everyone. Advocates for our public schools is vital for our nation’s survival. Thanks to all of you that know this and work for our schools.
