Last summer we told you about Meek Elementary in Arley being awarded a small grant to help teacher Debra Johnson and her students complete their outdoor classroom.  A couple of months ago I stopped by Meek (Winston County) to visit with Johnson and my long time friend, principal Amy Hiller.

Debra showed me their outdoor classroom and explained what remained to be done to finish the project and how much her young students enjoy learning about nature.

To learn more, check out the most recent news about Meek on the Rural Schools Collaborative website.

Tomorrow I am meeting with Jan Miller, dean of the college of education at the University of West Alabama, to talk about another project with the good folks at Rural Schools.  Stay tuned.
