The post about Lt. Governor Kay Ivey, Secretary of State John Merrill and Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh signing a letter supporting Betsy DeVos for U.S. Secretary of Education generated a lot of interest from readers.
Many wanted to know how to contact these officials to register their concern about them backing someone who is so opposed to public education.
Here you go:
Lt. Governor Kay Ivey Kay.Ivey@ltgov.alabama.gov
John Merrill John.Merrill@sos.alabama.gov
Del Marsh firstname.lastname@example.org
You should also know that Kay Ivey is a former high school teacher, John Merrill worked for a school system in Tuscaloosa and Del Marsh’s wife is a former teacher.
One of the things that frustrates me to no end is the lack of an education VOICE in Alabama. Time after time we are hesitant to speak out when it is called for. We are paying the price for our silence. Can you say Alabama Accountability Act, A-F school report cards, charter schools as a start?
If we don’t stand up for the 740,000 public school students in this state, who will?
We already know who is NOT standing up for them.
